Gigi Otero, Entertainment
Latin Markets

350mediatraining.jpg
A group of economists (above) during a media workshop in downtown Los Angeles, CA.

Gigi Otero is an entertainment publicity and marketing Pro, who specializes in executing comprehensive campaigns that target both the General Market and the U.S. Hispanic Market – now the largest minority group in the country with more than $500 billion in buying power – for maximum market penetration. In addition, the company is knowledgeable in using product placement to leverage production and marketing dollars for film and television projects.

Gigi Otero has built a solid reputation helping domestic and international entities attain prominence in the
U.S., Latin America and around the world. The portfolio has the experience and expertise to serve clients in every aspect of the entertainment industry.
A seasoned international marketer, Gigi Otero was sole publicist for France Telecom unit GlobeCast America, a leading full-service television production and transmission provider, and for its chief executive officer, for nine years beginning with the establishment of GlobeCast predecessor Hero Productions in Miami in 1993. In addition, Gigi Otero Public Relations was agency of record for Spanish-language music network HTV from its launch in 1995 until its sale to Cisneros Television Group in 1999.

Through her work on behalf of these and other clients, Otero was instrumental in branding
Miami as the Hispanic Hollywood. In addition, she was the catalyst for Variety moving its Latin American base from Mexico City to Miami in 1997. Before teaming up with MAYO Communications, Otero trained with top Los Angeles public relations firm Bender, Goldman & Helper. There, she represented entities in all areas of entertainment, including film, TV, broadcasting, pay-TV, production and post facilities, personalities and events.

These included 20th Century Fox’s "Only The Strong," 20th Television’s "Fortune Hunter," Telemundo’s "Studio X," Antena 3, GEMS Television, Canal Fox, Hero Productions, Comtel, Media Comm, Gloria Estefan, Xuxa, Walter Mercado, the 1992 Hurricane Relief concert, the 1994 all-star opening of Planet Hollywood Miami, and the 1995 inaugural bash for The Box’s South Beach headquarters.

Otero achieved notable success publicizing GEMS Television to
U.S. consumers market-by-market, garnering prominent placements in both Hispanic and General Market media to coincide with individual system launches across the country.

Gigi Otero projects included pay-TV clients including programmers MGM Networks Latin America and Fashion Television (FTV), multiple system operator Amzak International, L.L.C., and equipment distributors iCS/Itochu Cable Services and CableNetwork Associates. Other clients have included Paris-based GlobeCast Corporate, trade show organizers @d:tech (for lead agency Bender/Helper Impact), National Satellite Publishing and Global Exposition Holdings, L.C., producers of the Private & Wireless Show; and MundoIT.com, a Spanish-language Internet news service.

She maintains relationships with domestic and international, English- and Spanish-language entertainment, film, broadcast, pay-TV, production, post, satellite and business media, as well as national and local consumer media, with emphasis on Southern California and South Florida.
